Review Summary Updated April 05, 2026

This class is highly polarizing, with students either praising the teaching style and supportive approach or struggling with frequent exam typos, confusing tangents, and a heavy reliance on economic theory over practical finance. Success almost entirely depends on completing the optional problem sets, since assessments closely mirror them despite the work never being collected for a grade. Exams can be notoriously unforgiving and occasionally feature unclear phrasing, though a standard course curve usually prevents severe grade penalties. Skip this section if you want hands-on corporate finance applications or flawless testing materials, but take it if you prefer a strong theoretical foundation, consistent practice resources, and an enthusiastic lecturer who actively engages the room.

Don't need to purchase text book. Exams are easy and based solely on lecture and the practice questions she gives you. Class was not useful. She teaches it like an ECON class. It was pretty painful to sit through, but easy.

I really liked Schenone's teaching style. She is extremely challenging and expects a lot out of her students, but you definately learn the material. Lots of people give her a hard time, but she is not unreasonable at all. She's a great teacher.
