I learned so much in this class. Professor Finder is really passionate about the topic and genuinely wants you to learn and take something out of the class. lecture can be a bit dry because he spends the whole class period talking, but you really don't ever have to do the readings because he talks about everything significant in class. the midterm was frustrating because you had to memorize dates and events, but if you just take detailed notes the first half and study them, you'll be fine. the research paper was so easy and open-ended. some of his comments were picky like that the writing style isn't good and he made a lot of specific changes in how I phrased something, but I still got an A. he's really passionate about his studies and his students, and if you want a class where you can learn and do well with not much effort, I would highly recommend.

Good professor and a great course. Lot of interesting material but he gets a bit specific about what he wants to see for the exam and the paper. Go to his office hours and ask about both and he'll be a tremendous help. If he likes you and knows you and you put in a good effort you'll be golden in this class.
Finder is a gem. You just have to take one of his classes while you are here at uva. If possible, take all of them, they compliment each other well. He is a great lecturer, things he taught in class really stay with you. Papers are not meant to trick you but to help you understand and appreciate the course material better. He is also a very nice person and loves to know his students individually.
Don't do any of the reading except Confino. The second paper is more of a research paper, and the final is a full research paper. Come to class, but only really take notes on Confino lectures for the first paper.
Finder is an incredible professor, and has a great deal of experience in human rights and genocide, both as a former lawyer and a historian. Has a great deal of knowledge both about the factual nature of the Holocaust and the languages and culture that surround the Jewish people of the time. If you can get into the class you will certainly not be disappointed.
Professor Finder is a very amiable person. He is both knowledgeable and kind. He is always willing to help his students. The material is interesting; however, lectures can be a bit boring. Overall, I would recommend the class.
The best class available at UVA. Professor Finder is very engaging. He's a great lecturer and really makes it a point to know his students.
G. Finder is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable lecturer. The course is graded based on 4 papers which total about 20 pages I think.
He gets a Holocaust survivor to talk to the class, which was very interesting.
An excellent professor and an excellent class. All essays so be prepared to write but the topics are not too difficult. It is hard to get an A but not bad for an A- or B+.
