Review Summary Updated April 06, 2026

This is widely considered one of the most demanding requirements in the major, with exam averages consistently landing in the 40s and 50s and problem sets that routinely require over ten hours of focused effort each week. The concepts build tightly on one another, so staying ahead of lectures, completing every assignment independently, and actively using help sessions are non-negotiable for passing. The instructor is exceptionally knowledgeable and genuinely wants dedicated students to succeed, offering extensive reviews and one-on-one support for anyone willing to put in the grind. You will walk away with a much stronger technical foundation, making it a genuine rite of passage for serious engineering majors, but take a standard physics alternative instead if you are simply trying to check a box with minimal stress.

This class is extremely difficult and Weikle is part of the reason for it. Take home tests took 10-12 hours, homeworks probably 6 to 8. I would not have taken it if it wasn't required.

The HWs were too long and hard. The tests were take home but they were too long and hard. It felt like I was taking two classes but only got 3 credits. Be prepared to work like you've never worked before if you take this with Weikle.
