A very good class. Prof Coppock is the most hilarious instructor I've ever met. Spring08's final was not that terrible if you knew what monetary policy was: Half of the questions were actually the same...

coppock's lectures are interesting. He tries hard to help you through boring topics. Take 202 with coppock if you can. Yeah, ppl complain about memorizing numbers, but seriously..there's only like 4. And he tells you to memorize them before each test, and they're all on the blog.
This class is structured exactly like elzinga's, so dont blow off the final.
the final is insane... i got an A with elzinga in 201 and barely pulled off a C+ in this class because of the final... but do take the class. hes good about relating current events to economics
Coppock is a good teacher, he makes the class interesting. His midterms were really easy but his final took me from an A to a solid B. Baxter was a huge help, he waqs always enthusiastic and tried to make everyone who actually showed up participated. The class was pretty good overall
Best class ive taken so far at UVa. He is funny and interesting and he really knows his stuff.
really interesting lectures, and as most people said the midterms are easy, while the final is a killer.
But coppock is funny and good lecturer.
great class...don't believe any of the negative stuff...trust me
Lectures were not very difficult to follow and grades are usually pretty high until you are blind-sided by the final. The final is definately a grade killer if you don't see it coming.
I would avoid Coppock at all costs. His final is insane and it counts for half of your grade, at least. His lectures are pretty entertaining, but he likes to trick you with the final, so beware.
Coppock was a fine professor; like previous reviews have stated, he had a firm grasp on how to lecture to a large lecture hall. His midterms were easy and his final not that much harder--just be sure to have a firm and true grasp of the material and it will come easy. Taking ECON 201 prior to taking 202 will definitely be helpful.
