An amazing class. I wasn't a huge fan of Coppock after taking Macro with him, but he is by far my favorite professor from my experience in this class. You do have to do the reading (it's a small class, he cares if you read and he will notice if you don't and make you feel awful for it) and if you want a decent grade you need to attend EVERY class and take good notes - his exams are a lot of memorization of his lectures, but he explicitly teaches you everything you need to know. Overall, definitely take this class if you can.

By far my favorite professor at the University. You really have to know your stuff in class, so you have to do the readings, but if you just follow the guidelines he sets out from the beginning, you'll do very well in the class. He's just fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about him.

Mr. Coppock is an incredibly gifted teacher. It's obvious that he puts a lot of time and energy into preparing for class. His lectures are engaging and fun! (Be sure to do the readings before class. )
Most importantly, Mr. Coppock really cares about his students. He is generous with his time in office hours and really wants you to succeed in his class and in life. Definitely take this class!

Mr. Coppock is an awesome teacher. He is the most engaging professor I have ever had and throws in a lot of humor to keep students engaged. The material we cover is extremely interesting. If you are interested in an economic analysis of how government works, then this is the class for you. The tests are hard, do not expect to get an A. But the class is so worth it. Best class I have taken at UVA by far.

Professor Coppock is incredible. Take this class if at all possible. He expects a lot from you and will try to scare you on the first day, but it's worth sticking with this class.

Lee Coppock and His public choise are way too over-rated. Avoid this course if you don't want to ruin your GPA

This was one of the most interesting classes I've taken as an Econ major. Definitely take it if you're at all interested in how the US government works.

This is one of those classes that are worth taking despite the low chance of getting an A. Coppock is a phenomenal lecturer and demonstrates a genuine passion for what he does. Overall this class was great, and it was one class I actually enjoyed going to. Always do the readings though and come prepared to class, and make sure to study hard for exams.

TAKE THIS CLASS! Coppock is my favorite professor by far at uva. He makes every single lecture interesting and funny. He does expect you to do all the readings but its only one or two readings a week- completely doable. The midterm and final aren't that bad either- as long as you go to class and do the readings you'll do fine.

Awesome teacher. Extremely interesting subject. However, I didn't like how it was graded. None of the technical material from the readings and lectures made it onto the test. Instead, generic and speculative questions dominated the tests. It's a shame because two tests make up 80% of your grade, and they aren't easy, either. Make sure you read the research papers, don't rely on lecture notes.
