I loved this class -- by far my favorite Psychology class I've taken at UVA. Professor Emery is a great lecturer who has a lot of experience in the field. He is very opinionated, make sure to take notes on everything he talks about, because his tests are mostly essay based.

The class was easy enough and while the lecture material was interesting sometimes it was almost redundant, repeating what you were supposed to have read the night before. Emery is a nice enough guy and the curve was great but I still found the class a bit boring.
This was one of my favorite PSYC classes I've taken at UVA, if not my favorite. Emery is a good lecturer and brings in lots of outside experience to the lectures. Topics include Autism, Mental Retardation, Emotional/ Behavioral Disorders, Delinquency, etc. all in children. Emphasis on past research in the topics. Definitely recommend this class!
Emery's a really great teacher and is fairly entertaining to listen to. Tests are mostly essay, but the TA's are very lenient on grading.
I loved this class. Interesting material, great professor. If you go over the previous semester's exam (Emery uploads them on toolkit) before tests, you will be well-prepared for the essay part of the exam. Make sure to read all of the research articles!
This class was great, very interesting material and not too much reading. I thought Emery's lectures were pretty entertaining, and the tests were essay format, but not hard at all.
Really interesting class and he is a great lecturer but tests are tricky so watch out!
Emery is very engaging and a fun lecturer. He is also very available for office hours.
