1Lecture (1)
Expect intense, fast-paced lectures on deeply grim subject matter that require consistent attendance and active note-taking to succeed. You will face a heavy weekly reading load, though strategic skimming paired with focused study of lecture concepts usually keeps the workload manageable. Your final mark hinges on three short response papers, two major exams, and heavily weighted discussion participation, meaning your assigned section leader’s grading style will play a major role. This course is academically rigorous and fascinating, but it moves quickly and strongly favors upperclassmen or students already comfortable with department-level history writing and analysis. Commit to attending every session, contributing regularly in discussion, and prioritizing lecture takeaways to navigate the demanding but worthwhile pacing.

Amazing course, amazing lecturer. James wilson is a phenomenal TA. Highly recommend.
Really good class with interesting material. I actually thought Victor was one of the best TAs I've ever had. He made it easy for a lot of people to participate and helped clarify key concepts. The discussion section actually went by really fast for an 8:30am.
good class, interesting. rossman lectures right off power point which can be annoying
Rossman was a very engaging and easy-to-understand lecturer. I would also suggest not taking Victor as a TA.
Rossman was a good professor and it was a good class and you can tell he has studied a lot about the topic. However, if you have a choice to take Victor or any other TA take the other TA. Victor was the worst TA I have had and I have had some pretty terrible ones.
This was a great class-- there's a lot of reading but I would definitely recommend this class to anyone
