Professor Beck is very energetic and lively and makes the class a whole lot more interesting. She does every single problem step-by-step and learns every single person's name in the class by the first week. Take her if you can!

This is seriously the hardest APMA course I have taken. It is a weed-out e-school class, so they are trying to see if you are right for the e.school. Professor Beck is amazing - she helps students and really tries to get to know each and every person.

This class is hard. Unless you've taken the equivalent (and done well) in high school/elsewhere, don't think for a minute that you'll breeze through this class. Beck does her best to make the class material as clear as possible and you really wont have a problem if you really pay attention during lecture. She also loves to get to know her students, so make sure you go to her office hours early on and introduce yourself. Don't be too discouraged if your grades aren't what you want from the beginning because the curve is very generous. 80+ will pretty much guarantee you some sort of A. Another good thing is that this class makes APMA 2120 seem like the easiest class in the world.

Beck is definitely one of the best in the math department. She is fun and really makes sure the students are interactive during class. Tough class but she teaches it well

Mary Beck teaches very well in APMA1110. The class is very hard however, because all the tests are department-made and they intentionally make it a very difficult class. Professor Beck is one of the best professors you can have for this course that is required in the e-school. Do all your homework, don't get behind, and go to office hours to understand all the homework problems and you will do great. The curve is very significant. I believe you could have gotten a B even in the 50's or 60's. 80's will earn you an A-.

Professor Beck is the best APMA 111 teacher, is my opinion. Traditionally, however, Pisanno's class does better on the Tests. Still though, Professor Beck learns the name of everyone in the class and is just generally a really nice person.
