Interesting class. Basic ideas from the 1940s-1980s are explored in detail. About 125 pages of reading a week and a full length film each week. One group project is assigned at the beginning of the semester to be completed by the end of the course.

CYOU is a time-drain. Movies are an interesting addition to learning. Be prepared for participatory democracy in the way the course is run

Excellent class. Balogh is knowledgeable and fun. Best of all he makes himself accessible to students.

A lot of reading plus a movie once a week. And a semester long group project where you have to create a website. Only one short paper and the midterm/final are pretty straightforward. Lecture is interesting.

Balogh is a knowledgeable guy and enjoys the class. There is a lot of reading required and some of it is boring but the lectures are usually on really interesting material.

There's a lot of work- reading, videos, archives... be prepared for it.
