Course Description

This course provides an overview of the counseling profession with a focus on clinical mental health practice. Students will explore the history and philosophy of counseling, the development of professional identity, and the diverse roles and functions of clinical mental health counselors across settings. Emphasis is placed on ethical and legal foundations, trauma¿informed care, cultural humility, and advocacy for equity and social justice.
