Course Description

This course will examine the physical, chemical, and biological factors that affect the fate and transport of contaminants (including toxic metals and organic contaminants) in soils and waters.  We will examine human and natural sources, chemical transport, and uptake and toxicity in plants and animals through real examples and standard methods for ecotoxicological risk assessment with respect to Virginia and Federal guidelines and policies. EVSC 4270 or EVSC 3600 are recommended.
