Not spring 2024 idk why they made me choose that as the semester. Took this fall 2024 and LOVED IT!!! She taught Writing about Sound. Holmstrom is a great, young, funny professor that makes all the assignments and classes interesting and fun! Classes are discussion based, and have a in class assignment every time. There are 3 main assignments, all which were actually interesting to do. For us, we wrote an essay about a sound, a personal essay revolving around a sound, and a podcast talking about a song we HATE (which was the most fun imo). Even if you don't think you're good at writing this will be really fun and easy for you. It is more creative writing and she is not strict as long as you follow the rubric and format. You are also allowed to miss 2 classes which is nice (use them wisely!!) But YES really recommend this class.

Most of the ENWR courses are taught by grad students which is no surprise as it is a first year required course. Holstrom was a very kind teacher but I wish she had been more assertive as usually no one would be paying attention in class. The workload is just a lot of busy work especially if you already have a solid education in writing. To be frank, I wish I didn’t have to take this course but what’s done is done.
