Professor Ope is very nice and has a good personality, and her class is relatively fun. I've never taken a creative writing class before, and I learned a lot from this class. I've also never particularly liked English, but I found this to be enjoyable. The workload is nothing crazy, it is just a bunch of readings, writing two short stories (5-10 double spaced pages), and one 5 page essay (double spaced). There are readings to do before every class, but they are nothing too bad and some are pretty enjoyable.

Professor Ope is good at picking enjoyable readings for the class and leading the discussion. The class is very discussion heavy! Read and enjoy the texts and be ready to talk about them in class, and you will be fine.

Part of the class is writing your own story to get critiqued by the class in workshop sessions. While it may seem intimidating, it was very fun to get feedback on my own story and to read other people's stories.

My only criticism of the class would be that sometimes the homework and readings were unclear, so I read the wrong text before class. But prof Ope is very understanding.

I would recommend this class to anyone! Other than a few boring/tedious readings and occasional disorganization, it was very enjoyable and stress free.
