This class is a joke to be straight-up. Professor Block is an extremely nice person and knows a lot about the subject, but you can choose how much you need to engage with the material. If you want to explore all the resources he provides, you will learn a ton, but you can also do the minimum and be fine. The midterm and final are both online and are not difficult to do very well on. There is also a final project that takes a couple of hours to complete, but really is not difficult. As a non-kinesiology/non pre-med, I would not recommend this class because there are other easy classes that are more interesting in my opinion.

This course is widely seen as an incredibly manageable GPA booster that rewards consistent attendance over heavy reading or dense memorization. Lectures stay highly engaging through video analysis, movement demonstrations, and light in-class labs that handle most of the grading weight. The online midterm and final are straightforward, but you will still need to skim the presentation slides and remember key researchers or concepts highlighted during class to comfortably lock in a top grade. It is a low-stress, highly recommended option for both majors and non-majors as long as you actually show up, pay attention during demonstrations, and complete the minimal expected work.

Professor Block is a super sweet professor, and he is very knowledgeable! The class itself is really easy and very interesting. I like how he incorporated labs into the class almost every Tuesday, where we got to get up and move. I highly recommend this class if you are looking for an easy class that is very interesting! #tCFS24
This class was really fun! I really like Professor Block! He is super nice and a really funny guy! I enjoyed going to the lecture since the information wasn't too hard to understand and he made the lectures really interesting. There is one midterm and then a final which are both online along with a final project (which isn't too bad at all). In all, I definitely recommend this class!
Professor Block is very lively and his lectures are fun because there are many in-class demonstrations and he makes jokes while bringing in relevant topics. He is also open minded and allows all students to share their thoughts. The course focused more on 'correct' vs 'incorrect' movement patterns whereas I thought it would be more biology-based, but it was still interesting and not difficult. I highly recommend going to lecture because the powerpoint bulletpoints are a bit tough to understand without hearing his explanation, and the labs (HW assignments) are very easy if you make note of what he says about them in class. If you work on the labs during the assigned class time, then you can finish most of it in class. There is 1 midterm and a non-cumulative final. Make sure you pay attention to the big names and studies he mentions in class because they will be on the exams.
The Professor is so sweet and passionate .. I absolutely enjoyed this class and ended with an A. TA grades super easy as long as you did your work and gives helpful feedback if wanted/needed. 100000% recommend this course even if you're not a Kinesiology major (I'm not).
definitely recommend this course! It is super doable and interesting. if you do the work, you will most likey get an A.
Professor Block is one of the best professors I have had at UVA so far! He is very engaging and passionate about this class and what he does which is so refreshing to a student. I loved this class!
This class is a great GPA booster and the professor is more than happy to hand out As. His lectures are actually kinda interesting and its fun to watch videos of his kids. Exams are all take home so its an automatic A. Class attendance is kinda mandatory because you work on assignments on class but don't let that deter you from taking this class if you have an open slot.
Great class. Professor Block is really fun and makes the class fun. Most days are either watching home videos while he analyses them or in class labs where you basically play games. Definitely take this class. I am not a KINE major and enjoyed it.
Very fun and easy class. Dr. Block is a great professor and his lectures are interesting and fun to listen to. He shows a lot of videos and you do most of the work in class. Midterm and Final are 25% each, labs are 30% (but easy 100 on all of them), and a (pretty easy) project is 20%. You have to study for the exams but they're fair and not super difficult. There's no textbook, just readings on Collab which I never actually read. I got an A- with minimal effort and average attendance. GREAT CLASS!
