Overall, an interesting class and I'm glad I took it.
This class was once a week, for 2.5 hours. My least favorite part was probably the actual class, as Prof Wood is a little disorganized and scattered. I didn't think she led discussion very well, and class activities weren't as engaging as they could have been. However, when the students discussed I think we usually got an interesting discussion going.
My favorite part was actually the readings and videos. The weekly readings were usually really interesting articles, and we also watched a lot of documentaries. I learned a lot and got a lot of ideas about education from these. I didn't like the three books we read as much as the weekly shorter readings, but usually we were encouraged to talk about what we did and didn't like, so that was okay.
For assignments, we had to make one poster about an NGO with a partner, write a weekly reflection on this week's topics, and occasionally do a discussion forum. Then we had the final paper, which we had to submit a proposal for at the end of sepetember, then an annotated bibliography for in october, then in november the first draft and eventually the final. In it, we had to propose an education-related NGO. This was kind of interesting, but I think it might have been better if we had to plan a school or something like that. It was a large amount of work but not overwhelming.
Even though I didn't love the professor or the final, I am still really glad I took the course. There were so many engaging ideas and topics, so if the premise sounds interesting to you, you'll probably find it very cool! I decided to minor in Global Studies in Education because of this course.

Just the most boring class imaginable. Easy grade but it's so boring. Don't recommend unless you really need a GPA booster and have no other options

Many note that this course is easy, which it is, yet it is nowhere near worth it. Prof. Wood leads a boring lecture, which is excruciating due to the class being 2.5 hours long. She has you do two projects about NGOs which she provides minimal information about and makes no clear connections between them and multicultural education. 55% of your grade is an 8-10pg. research paper about creating your own NGO. If you're taking this for a requirement that allows you options in which class to take to fulfill it, I 100% recommend choosing another - I wish I had.
