*Do not take this if you're looking for an easy engagement* We were assigned 3-4 readings per week most of which were relatively long. We had to write 'commonplaces' to prove our comprehension of each text. In addition to these, we had other podcast and writing assignments that were way more work than necessary. The topic was slightly interesting, but got repetitive and annoying when we had to do so much work/reading. If you really like satire and don't mind doing a lot of work, take this, otherwise I would find a different class.

I really enjoyed my class with Professor Fredner in his Satire course. While I had low expectations for it because it was an engagements course, I really enjoyed both the class and Professor Fredner's teaching style. He was very accepting toward any student needs and also built a classroom environment where you were encouraged but not forced to always participate. The texts we read in class where sometimes long, but a lot of them were quite funny and enjoyable to read. If you are in the engagements curriculum, I would highly recommend taking his satire course or any other class with him.
