Took the course in Fall 2025 but TCF has yet to add the instructor to said semester so ignore the semester date.
Bones and Burials is one of the more fun engagements. I would recommend taking it if you have any interest in archaeology or anthropology whatsoever since Professor Reid effectively treats it like an easier crash course Anthro class. The work in-class is fairly light. There are some worksheets you have to do, but if you complete them in-class you don't wind up having any homework which is a huge plus.
The readings can be on the longer side, but as since classes tend to cover the same material, you'll be fine just skimming the chapters.
The labs where you work directly with bones are definitely the most fun part of the course. (Yes, some of them are real.)
All in all, if you can get into this engagement for 1520, you absolutely should take it!

Sean Reid is such a nice professor and really cares about his students! The class is so much fun, especially if you're interested in archaeology or anthropology, and the assignments are very appropriate for a 2-credit class. In class we did a lot of group labs where we analyzed bones, documentary worksheets, and the occasional lecture. Most of the readings are short and cover the topic of the next class (so not technically necessary) but they're very interesting nonetheless!

Cool course, very manageable workload. Some readings are a bit dense, but all are doable. Professor Reid clearly cares about this subject and makes the content interesting even on lecture days. There are opportunities for hands-on practice, though nothing too demanding or intimidating. Would highly recommend.

Professor Reid is such a cool guy. If you like anything to do with archaeology, anthropology, human evolution, or just a nice and interesting engagement (Bones & Burials), than this is for you. Reid knows that its only a 2 credit class and doesn't pile on work, the in class assignments are fun and engaging, and the topic is awesome! I'm sure he'll have you handling human skulls in no time.
