Fulfilling engagement that involves reading 4 UVA affiliated authors and 3 creative writing exercises and a set of discussion questions. Engaging in class discussion. Graded on competition. Take this if you need a solid EGMT and an A.

A nice relaxing course that is graded solely based on participation! All you have to do is show up to class, complete three written responses of a paragraph in length, create one discussion question, and visit her office hours once for a guaranteed 4.0. There's an assigned reading after most classes, but these are generally light and there's no grade associated with them. These reading are from four famous UVA writers: Thomas Jefferson, Edgard Allan Poe, William Faulkner, and Rita Dove (Hence the name "Reading UVA"). However, her class is held in a seminar format, with students discussing the reading with their table before combining into a larger class discussion, so it's advisable to understand the basic premise. These discussions are alright, but like most seminars you'll find the quality quickly deteriorating. The class is still interesting, though, and is great cushion course for reducing your semester's workload.
