Be afraid: this class is not the "easy A" you think it will be. Firstly, you'll be paying about $130 for the several books you don't fully read, and a collection of articles and chapters from books the professor assembled into a textbook you must go and buy at a store off Grounds. Secondly, every class was just a summary of the readings; no additional comments or connections - just a summary of the assigned reading. To add, most readings are scientific based and longggg; this is less an English/German in Translation class and more of a Science class (Humanities people, beware). Thirdly, the midterm and the final are lengthy exams testing you on the tiniest details you probably skimmed over while reading. If you're a STEM-type person looking to dip your toe into the Humanities, this class might be for you - you'll be better-prepped for the analytical exams. If you're a Humanities-type person - I caution you: you MUST DO ALL THE READINGS, lectures won't help you, and exams will be rough. all you can do is hope your essays and project grades will be outweigh those exam grades - oof.
