This class was pretty cool, even towards the ending getting into countable infinity. The professors were very telling of what was on the exam, and gave practice problems that were in the same sense. The tests were a little tricky but overall not that hard. There were also weekly problem sets but they were able to walk you through it. Overall interesting class for a cs class.

Professor Elder is nice, but her lectures tend to be confusing. Sometimes it felt like she didn't know the material very well. It was her first semester at UVA so I imagine she is adjusting to the transition. There is weekly homework that is graded for accuracy and can be challenging. The tests are not very hard as long as you know the material and you get a cheat sheet front and back which is helpful. I found TA office hours extremely helpful for learning material and doing my homework. While our tests were never curved she said she would curve a test if it seemed necessary (our averages were always above 80%). I found the content interesting, but ended up teaching myself most of it or going to TA office hours to actually learn. Prof Elder is also pretty transparent about what material will be on the test if you ask. She was also very accommodating, letting me take my final early due to a conflict with the normal testing time.
