This was my favorite class I took in my spring semester! There’s almost no outside work, just an occasional short video or email before each session to give a heads-up on the session, weather, or location. The students in this class range from experienced marathoners to total beginners, but Coach Craig’s bubbly personality makes every class accessible and fun. Each session begins and ends with five to ten minutes of dynamic or static stretches, and the middle half is self-directed running. You choose your pace or distance and join a matching group for support. I usually ran about 4-5 miles with others, but some sessions can be time trials in the AFC or indoor workouts for inclement weather. Midway through the course, I ran my first half-marathon, and the weekly mileage goals kept me disciplined. Craig also lets you make up absences by documenting outside runs, like Run with Jim or proof of a running event (5K, 10K, HM, etc).
