Do not take this course with Groves. There were weekly tests on the readings, and is not an engaging lecturer. He would also grade assignments and essays randomly, taking different amounts of points off for the same comments on different people's work. It is not hard to get an A in the class, but it requires more effort than you would expect. I would recommend taking this with any other professor, as they had fewer essays, assignments, readings, and more consistent grading. Additionally, Groves' section was the only section with a required final.

A really underrated instructor for this course. He cares a lot about the subject and spends a lot of time sharing his personal experiences in the engineering field. Just get the main idea behind the readings and be prepared to contribute to class discussions
This class is quite dull and uninteresting. Professor Groves is not a very engaging lecturer and the class discussions feel more like answering the professor's questions than it does a whole class discussion. You will be bombarded with readings, but you can get away with skimming them.
