The course is pretty simplistic actually - styled to be a practicum experience, you go out 2 days a week to a specific job site and get hands-on experience working as a GC, both on site and in the office. Typically you work 2.5 hr per day, totaling 5 hours per week. Every week there is a journal and/or experience discussion boards, which can sometimes be tedious but easy to complete if you make sure to answer every question in the prompts and give details. Some additional assignments that come up in the course are weekly site tours toward the end of the semester (which are really insightful and fun), a final presentation that you present to the project team you have worked with, and a photo + job description that the professor uses to put on the UVA CEM Social media page. Overall, the course is very flexible and great fkr real-world application, and it makes an excellent opportunity to network with professionals and get your name out there, all while still taking a class. Would recommend to anyone, regardless of major or year!
