Professor is a great guy and very knowledgeable. Class is about how ideas of space, culture, change, etc interact. Kind of anti establishment in the sense of building society up on a small scale and being open to new ideas. Took as a gen ed so I wasn't that into the class but the ideas are interesting at least. Little work, lots of small group work/discussion which I enjoyed. If you need a gen ed do this class because it was very light. Only 2 big writing/drawing assignments, if you budget your time you can do most of them in class.

David is amazing!! He is so passionate about both his students and the subject he's teaching.

This is definitely a class geared towards upperclassmen (which I did not know this, and ended up being the only first year in the class). The grade is a pretty easy A, with two projects throughout the semester, a portfolio of work done in class throughout the semester, and a participation self-evaluation. First project is a ~5-6 page paper that applies the concepts from readings and in-class discussions to a personal example of a space that you're familiar with. The paper is pretty easy to write since it's so personal, and took me the better part of a day or two to write. Second project is a visual interpretation of the ideas expressed in the first project, with basically any creative outlet being allowed. Since this class is primarily for upperclassmen, David gives you practically no guidelines or rubric to go off for both projects, which can be frustrating, but they're graded pretty easily so it doesn't really matter in the end.

The readings before each class can definitely be dense and very conceptual, but David explains them very well in class and is even sympathetic towards the high-level nature. Several classes were shifted outside or accompanied by bagels/goodies that David brings in as a treat. He's the best!

David is the GOAT!!! He makes an effort to get to know all of his students. There are only two projects throughout the semester and he grades super generously. Readings can be pretty dense at times but he breaks them down in class. This class is heavily discussion based and most your grade is just showing up! If you need to fulfill a gen-ed I highly recommend this class!
