Calculus classes at UVA are exactly as hard as everyone says they are. I took 1310 as a non-STEM major because I thought I liked math -- this class changed my mind. HOWEVER, David was a fantastic instructor. I believe my class was the first one he had taught, and he did a phenomenal job. The fact that I do not look back on this class with pure regret is down to him. He's great at explaining math in a way that makes sense (which is NOT always true of grad students teaching math classes), and also just a really friendly and approachable guy. The growth-based system was still getting worked out when I took this class, but I think once they overhaul the way final grades are calculated it will work well (the way it was supposed to be calculated in Fall '22 was so harsh that they had to change it at the last minute). But I digress. Take a class with David if you can.
