I really feel like I actually learned a lot of Portuguese through this course in just one semester and ended with an A despite having no previous experience in Spanish or French. That being said, Professora Feitosa can be very disorganized at times. She is super nice, but not the best at staying on top of posting assignments, creating tests on time, and struggled with the overall scheduling of the course. And, unsurprisingly, there is a LOT of homework. It was definitely annoying to have to prioritize this course over my other classes at times, but it is understandable since it is an intensive course. Overall though, I definitely recommend if you are looking to fill your language requirement.

2This intensive language course is highly recommended for fulfilling requirements, offering a straightforward academic path where consistent effort and very lenient grading make earning an A highly achievable. You will find a genuinely warm and supportive instructor who struggles noticeably with organization, occasionally delaying tests or mismanaging assignment deadlines. The primary challenge is the heavy volume of repetitive, time-consuming online exercises and daily homework that students consistently describe as tedious but ultimately effective for building real proficiency. While prior knowledge of Spanish or French dramatically lightens the workload, complete beginners can still succeed as long as they stay disciplined about the steady grind of routine assignments. Just brace yourself for immediate immersion in the target language and be ready to manage your own schedule to fully compensate for the course's administrative hiccups.

Great course to take out the language requirement. all you need is 1110 and 2120 for the college. Lilian is very sweet and grades easy but there is a decent amount of work involved. If you do the work it's almost an guaranteed A. well worth it in my opinion
Prof. Feitosa is seriously the sweetest teacher ever. The class wasn't that hard, even with a limited background in French and Spanish. The MyLab assignments were tedious and time-consuming but helpful.
easy class, but unbearable amounts of busy work
Lilian is the nicest professor I've ever had. She's a great person, and has this super positive energy that's so rare in professors. Take this class. You won't regret it.
Professor Feitosa is such a nice woman; really, I was taken aback by how easy she is to work with and how she makes things very accessible for her students. I appreciated it.
Also, she doesn't grade harshly and I think she wants her students to do well first and foremost. However, she starts speaking Portuguese on day one, so be prepared for that.
Profesora Lilian was a great professor! Super nice. She moved a bit quickly, but that's as to be expected in a beginning advanced language class. Fair grading. Online homework throughout the semester, but it was easy. Good intro to Portuguese!
Professora Lilian is incredibly sweet and thoughtful, although not the best language instructor I've ever had. I still definitely think the course was worthwhile. It felt like a high school class, with lots of workbook assignments (MyLab), compositions, and quizzes. This was time-consuming but useful. Class time was dedicated to oral activities from the textbook. I didn't have any Spanish or French going into Portuguese, but it wasn't a problem.
The class is super easy if you're decently fluent in Spanish. I hardly studied, because it all made sense and could be remembered based off of Spanish. The online workbook "MyLab" is repetitive and pretty useless, as well as being time-consuming, though it's mindless work. I thought the professor was kind of "eh". She graded leniently, often marking errors on quizzes and giving full credit anyway. We could have covered more/learned more if she'd taught differently.
