Robert was an absolutely fantastic professor. His passion for teaching is apparent to anybody who's taken his class. I took SPAN 3300 with him a few semesters ago and decided to take him again.
The course starts out going through selected pieces of literature starting ~1800, with a pretty big focus on the periods around where Spain was losing its colonies and around the period of Franco. Grading is generous and based on written responses to the readings done in a notebook and a short final paper on a reading of your choice. One of the best instructors I've had at the university.
