If you have to take PChem, TAKE IT WITH VENKATESH. I've never had a better professor than Professor Venkatesh in all my three years of college so far. He genuinely, actually wants you to learn the material. He spends a lot of time preparing for lectures and going through the complex math. His homework assignments and quizzes aren't too difficult, and his exams are fair. The final exam was lowkey really bad, but he told us ahead of time that it would be difficult. Please please please, if you can get into his section for PChem, take the class with him. Reading is helpful but not really required, though Profe Venkatesh always had the chapters on the slides so you could go back and reference where we were.

AMRIT VENKATESH IS MY GOAT. I was so scared to take pchem because I had heard about how terrible Egerov and Harrison were, so I enrolled in his section even though he was new. He was genuinely the best professor I've ever had at UVA. He acknowledged how difficult the topics were in the class, and he did his best to make them as understandable as possible. He always went out of his way to ask us how he could improve his teaching and tried to give us as much help as possible. The class was still hard, but he made it so much more enjoyable by being super enthusiastic about teaching. There were quick concept quizzes every week, 3 midterms, and a final. It definitely helps to do supplemental reading from the textbook or from youtube videos, too. The questions on exams were all written himself to adjust for what he taught in class. If you have to take pchem (I'm so sorry) actually do whatever you can to get into his section because I learned so much and he's the Michael Jordan of chemistry professors
