This was Professor Nguyen's first semester teaching at UVA, and I'm so happy I took this class with her. Professor Nguyen specializes in Asian American studies, which was refreshing because UVA lacks professors in that area. Professor Nguyen is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and understanding. She makes each of her students feel valued. Even when I said something that was incorrect or unsupported by the readings, she never made me feel embarrassed but instead helped guide me in the right direction. The course was a bit heavy on the readings, but the weekly key term assignments were light. Other gradebook items included participation, a midterm paper, and a final project. But given the semester's events, Professor Nguyen canceled the final project. She's one of the best professors I've ever had -- highly recommend taking a course with Professor Nguyen! #tCFfall22
