I took this class in Fall 2025. Sharel goes through just about everything you need to know to improvise for anyone who already knows their instrument. I wouldn't recommend this class to total beginners, but if you know your scales and a little bit about chords you'll be totally fine. The content is super thorough and not intended for you to master during the duration of the course, but to serve as a resource for you to continue to grow after the course ends. Sharel doesn't really grade you based on whether or not you can improvise, but whether or not you go to class and engage, so it's really not difficult to get an A and it makes it super easy to learn without the pressure of being critiqued through the grade book. She's very talented and can answer just about any question. For our class she made a very comprehensive listening list for each jazz subgenre so that we could continue to learn from the greats just because we asked! Highly recommend.
