I loved this course (it was online via Zoom for the summer)! I'm a Foreign Affairs major and before this, I only took 1 political theory class that I also loved. Ferdinand is a great professor and he models his lecture style off Kevin Duong, so if you've had Duong before & liked him I'd recommend this course. It provides a background on common political theorists, including Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Politics, and finishes up with the social contract theorists. It connects Shakespeare's historical and fictional plays with theories. We read Coriolanus, Henry V, King Lear and The Merchant of Venice. Every day there was 1 hour lecture and break and then 1 hour discussion in breakout rooms. We had to complete 3 discussion assignments and then write a 2000-word final paper.
