I took this as my second writing requirement, which, in hindsight, wasn't the best decision. I still ended up with an A in the course, but not after a lot of hard work. This class focuses on pre-common era Chinese artwork, which is a topic I thought would bore me. The Tuesday classes are lectures on the material, while Thursdays are discussion-based. You'll have about 4-5 long readings each week, on which you'll have to write responses for discussion. Overall, I found that quick summaries of these articles were more than enough for meaningful discussion. There will also be two image quizzes throughout the semester, a short essay, and finally, a longer essay on the topic of your choosing.

Professor Wong is incredibly kind and deeply cares about her students. She is very understanding of any absences that occur and is more than happy to point you in the right direction for research. She's clearly an expert in the field and has a deep passion for all things Ancient China. Her lectures may drag on a little bit, but I would suggest going out of your way to ask her for help. You will enjoy the course a lot more, and the entire experience will be much easier.
