A very good lecturer, a very good course. Not a very difficult course- all you have to do is be a keen economics student

If youre good at taking multiple choice tests (i.e. ap exams, SAT) you can possibly do the dutch knockout. But the tests are easy enough that this shouldnt be necessary. I didn't go to class all year and ended up with an A-. pretty sweet deal.

Textbook is basically useless. Coppock doesn't go over a lot of what the textbook covers. If you do anything in this class, come to lectures and take good notes. Read the textbook at your own discretion. Midterms are ok. They aren't easy, but they aren't that hard. Just study hard. Final is definitely hard. it definitely focuses on the last 1/3 of the lectures. This course is lecture-heavy, but the lectures are great. Coppock is one of the better lecturers I've had at UVA.

Coppock is a good lecturer and makes the material interesting and applicable. He definitely puts a strong conservative slant on the material, but if you don't mind that he's a great guy.

The midterms are quite straightforward, and the final is not much harder. Your grade is determined almost entirely by test performance.

hahahaahaha

that's what I walked way from the final saying, because I've never been that humbled in my life. I loved going to class- it's very fun, social, and easy to make friends. The lectures were enjoyable and all you had to do was clicker points and go to section (except mine was optional with online quizzes). That said, I got pretty good grades on the midterms and really braced myself for the final and did the worst on it as any academic assignment in my life. Don't read the book. Get a TA who speaks English and makes it a requirement you go too, I think that'd help. Anyway, I did learn a lot, and that's what college is about... right?

... who needs grad school anyway?

Fantastic professor. The lectures are interesting, funny, and overall very well-done. The midterms are not hard at all if you understand all that is said in the lecture. The final is not hard either, you must just know the concepts taught in the lecture. Book not really needed. Wonderfull class.

Going to lecture definitely helps. Since his tests are based on the lecture, it's hard to just read the book to get by. He's funny though, so lectures are interesting to go to. Clickers are annoying though since mine constantly wouldn't send my answer in time.
